Fat Rose general membership meeting! Saturday, Jan 4, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. PDT/ 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. EDT. (Via Zoom)
Meeting topic: Care Webs
We’ve been talking, doing and learning lots about Mutual Aid. What does it mean to be part of a movement where we are invested in our collective survival, especially as people considered “disposable” in this society? How do we organize to protect and care for each other? How do we ask for support?
During our next General Meeting THIS SATURDAY Jan, 4, we’ll spend the first half discussing the first chapter of Care Work, by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha. We’ll include discussion about our relationship as fat people with internalized ableism, and its impact on how/whether we ask for and accept support.
The second half of the meeting is for announcements, ideas, etc. Bring yours! During this part, we’ll give details about our upcoming Mutual Aid study group. (Sneak peek: We’ll be starting based on Dean Spade’s curriculum, bringing our fat and crip questions and wisdom, and creating some materials together about Fat Mutual Aid!)
If you’re new to Fat Rose, sign up to join our email list and tell us more about what you can bring. We’ll send out specific info about how to join the videoconference/call.
